Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Festival | July 21-23, 2017

Homewood Mountain Resort boasts some of the best views in California’s entire Lake Tahoe region. Easily accessible from Interstate 80 and California Highway 89, the resort rises 1,650 vertical feet from the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe to its 7,880’ summit elevation. This scenic location is the setting the Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, the second of the season, taking place Friday through Sunday July 21-23, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

This free event brings together an exciting group of more than 30 artists showcasing an assortment of collectable arts and crafts in a variety of media including handcrafted wearables and unique decorative or functional artwork and crafts. Enjoy this art gallery in the outdoors, meeting and chatting with the artisans, and finding a treasure to take home. Among the featured artists:

Jewelry
Shari Milner has her studio in Inverness California, in the beautiful hills between the Tomales Bay and the ocean – a setting that inspires her creative work in designing jewelry using pearls, silver, gold, glass and semiprecious stones. She is strongly influenced by the soft colors of the sea and flowing lines of the hills, which is apparent in the evocative and organic collection of wearable art she creates. Shari designs jewelry with clean lines and an edgy look. Her pieces are sophisticated, but not trendy, resulting in a very pretty collection of wearable art.

Ceramics
Paula Evans found her love of working in ceramics in high school and continued developing her skills in college. Attracted to Hawaiian design, Paula shows that influence and her appreciation of the island’s flowers in her work. The Hawaiian culture provides inspiration in her dynamic pieces, which include traditional glazes as well as RAKU style, finishes on her decorative and functional art pieces.

Photography
Bob Evans has lived in Northern California since 1960 and has spent over 30 years photographing the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Yosemite, and most of the western National Parks. He has always had an intense interest in the arts, music, and photography with the outdoors having been his most comfortable environment. Studying with the renowned climber/photographer, Galen Rowell, for almost 10 years, Bob is able to share this knowledge through his work. “I have combined the outdoors and photography together to produce dynamic images,” he says.

Fiber
Terry Shearn has been working in various forms of fiber arts most of her life finding her passion in the botanical print/dye process. This interesting method uses plants to transfer the image of a leaf, flower or stem onto fabric using dye fixatives such as iron, copper, alum etc. to bind the natural color of the botanical to the fabric. Terry says “The texture, colors, diversity, and limitless possibilities that fiber offers are delicious and there is no limit to the exploration of this wonderful art adventure.” Browse Terry’s art adventures in her botanical printed cotton, wool and silk garments, wall art, and table runners and enjoy the textures of her handcrafted felted soaps, hats and fun cat caves.
