Zephyr Cove Beach

If you are looking for the “fun” beach atmosphere then head to Zephyr Cove – one of Lake Tahoe’s party beaches. This popular South Lake Tahoe beach fills up fast in the summer months, attracting the younger crowd who also flock once a year to Zephyr Cove beach for the annual “Hot Body Contest.” The beachside Sunset Bar & Grille sends cocktail servers to roam the beach, making it a great place to rent a beach chair and umbrella and enjoy a refreshing cool drink.

Farther from the bar is more family friendly territory. Fill up your days with fun in the sand and water. The beach is more than a mile long and offers the best beach volleyball courts in the region. Getting out on the water is easy with almost every kind of watercraft rental available, including jet skis and boats. Enjoy the thrill of a parasailing adventure, or take a lake cruise on the 500-person passenger vessel or the 36-passenger catamaran.

Zephyr Cove has a large grassy area that is great for group events, a campground, beachfront cabins and lodging available, plus horse stables and a gift shop. Winter offerings include one of the largest snowmobile operations in the Tahoe area. Dogs are not allowed, but it is common to see them at the far northeast end of the beach. There is a parking fee in the lot nearest the beach, but when the lot fills up you will be directed to park at the high school across Highway 50 where there is no fee and you can take a shuttle to the beach. Zephyr Cove is located on Highway 50 about 3 miles from Stateline.

Launching not available at Zephyr Cove. Boat launching is available at Cave Rock (3 miles north) of Zephyr Cove.
