Sugar Bowl
As one of Lake Tahoe’s oldest resorts, Sugar Bowl’s rich history dates back to 1939. The sport of ski racing is a big part of its past as the host of memorable events such as the famous Silver Belt race and the US National Alpine Championships. Today, this world-class mountain resort features four peaks and the opportunity to Ski Sugar Bowl’s 1,500 acres with 95 trails covered in some of the most amazing powder you will ever experience. It is no wonder the locals rave about the remarkable adventures this mountain has to offer.

The elevation at the summit is 8,383 feet and there are 13 lifts to get you where you need to go, whether it is the Sugar Bowl ski park, the Switching Yard Terrain Park, or the miles of trails in between. The terrain park’s boxes, rails, mini-boarder-x, and jump lines will keep you at the top of your game, no matter your level of ability, while the terrain park competitions will give you a chance to demonstrate your skills. Sugar Bowl’s backcountry tours are professionally guided and give visitors a chance to participate in educational seminars, Telemark and steeps clinics, snowshoe hikes, and more. Sugar Bowl is also participating in the Rahlves Banzai Tour 2011 where skiers and snowboarders compete for cash.

Mountain amenities include the Judah Retail Shop and Village Chalet to keep you outfitted for your adventures, and the Village Lodge for a place to relax or enjoy an excellent meal with views of Mt. Disney. The Main Lodge offers fantastic views of Mt. Judah and has two dining choices, the Sierra Vista Bar & Grill and the Sunset Grill. Summertime transforms Sugar Bowl into the perfect venue for weddings, corporate outings, family reunions, and other special events, while the Lodge at Sugar Bowl has exquisite accommodations with gorgeous views. Terrain Parks: Celebrity terrain park builder J.P. Martin will be crafting the vision at Sugar Bowl this season in a move that the freeski and ride world is definitely talking about. Following a 10 year stint building hits and perfecting rails in Jackson Hole, J.P. is looking forward to calling Sugar Bowl home “The thing I really like about Sugar Bowl is it has the optimal angle for creating great flow in a logical way.” Indeed, the ‘flowmaster' will be the best thing to hit the Sugar Bowl Terrain Park since Olympian Jayson Hale hucked it on his way to Torino.

As a 6 year veteran of the international K2 team, JP definitely knows how to build for the big hitters, but his focus is clearly on encouraging access for everyone. “I really like to build parks that make parents want to jump. Anyone can build a hair raising sick hit, but its an art to create a smooth long landing and perfect rollovers. Terrain parks should be safe, fun and consistent. Sugar Bowl has great terrain for me to work with and the attitude to get it all done”. The concept of an “incubator park” - one that is specifically geared to beginners is particularly exciting for Sugar Bowl.
Core Mountain Club: Sugar Bowl Ski Resort announces its new Core Mountain Club loyalty program to reward its frequent guests. The program will offer added value benefits for both seasons pass holders and frequent day visitors. Guests earn points towards great free ski gear, discounts around the mountain and more!!
