6 Kids' Night Out at the South Lake Tahoe Parks & Rec
Center SLT Parks and Rec Center 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Friday Evening "Kids' Night Out" - This program is offered during our school year. Potty trained - 8th graders $12.00 per child. Parents enjoy a Friday night out or some "alone" time at your own home. School age children will swim, watch movies and play in the gym. New this year, the program will be available to younger siblings who are potty trained. Preschool group WILL NOT SWIM, but the bounce house and scooters will be available. Everyone will get together to watch a G or PG movie. This program will run on Friday evenings December 5, January 23, February 6, March 6 and April 3 from 6:30 - 10:00 pm. 12-14 Docu-Drama at the Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theater
The Laramie Project Lake Tahoe Community College, One College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. The Laramie Project is a docu-drama about the 1998 hate-crime murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student who was brutally beaten by two young men, tied to a fence, and left to die. Writer-director Moises Kaufman and actors of New York's Tectonic Theatre Project journeyed to Laramie to interview townspeople about the horrific murder. After 400 hours of interviews, what emerges is an unusual and powerful theatre piece focusing on the citizens of Laramie, how they were affected and ultimately changed by this act of brutality within their community. Mature themes and content - may not be suitable for children under 15. A series of events, including panel and post-show discussions, will be held in conjunction with this production, culminating in a Candlelight Vigil Against Hate following the final Saturday evening performance.
