6-26 150th Anniversary Celebration of the Pony Express
The National Pony Express Association will once again conduct a Re-Ride of the Pony Express Trail from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, June 9 to 19, 2009. This re-ride will be a 10-day, 24-hour a day, non-stop event by over 500 riders and horses. The 1,966 mile route will be over the Pony Express National Historic Trail from California, through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas to Missouri. It is the longest event held annually on a historical trail in the nation, even surpassing the famed Iditarod. Sponsored by the National Pony Express Association. The 19th Annual "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride-Lake Tahoe" has built a reputation for not only its spectacular scenery, but also its great food and support. Boat Cruise/35-Mile Fun Ride, 72-mile ride around the Lake, and full 100-mile century are offered. This ride promotes Lake Tahoe Bikeway, the plan to build and interconnect bike lanes/trails around Lake Tahoe, and is the culmination of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America's National Team In Training spring fund raising program.
