Tahoe Rim Trail
South Lake Tahoe

Distance: 150 miles around Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Rim Trail circumnavigates Lake Tahoe in 150 miles following the peaks, ridges and passes that surround the "Jewel of the Sierra" (Lake Tahoe). Many sections are open to mountain bikes and offer the strong intermediate advanced rider a unique riding experience. Please observe closed and restricted access sections as the local biking community has worked hard to cooperate with the trails' builders and the Forest Service to gain access to formerly closed portions. Most sections offer a view of the lake and all are single track at altitudes ranging from 7,000 to 9,000 ft. Many of Tahoes' premier rides are on or connect to the Rim Trail. In South lake Tahoe, the trail is accessible from N.Benjaman /Andrea Ct. off of Hwy. 207 (Kingsbury Grade) for the Kingsbury to Spooner section. From Heavenly Ski Resorts' Stagecoach Chair Lift to access the Star Lake/Freel Peak/Armstrong Pass section. From Big Meadows Trail Head to access Mr. Toads Wild Ride to the north and Round Lake/Meiss Meadows to the south. From Spooner Summit to access Kingsbury to the south and Snow Peak to the North. See the map and/or contact the Rim Trail Foundation or a local bike shop for more details.
